And there you have it

Renee complained that the DVD system in the Van wasn’t working right. So, after I get everything else I have to do done, I went out and started digging into the problem.

First up, the asshat who installed it didn’t mount it – it’s just wedged in the frame under the seat. So every bounce, wiggle, push, thump, etc has made it move and shift. it no longer outputs sound. Well, OK, it interferes with the FM modulator when it’s turned on.

FWIW, the FM Modulator works great – I had it plugged into the Rio (from my pre-iPod days) and it sounded fab. I mean *FAB*. the I turned on the monitor…hmm. A little interference. And then the DVD player and…

…it was like the fm modulator wasn’t on at all. And it refuses to recognize otherwise good disks.

So there goes anything I was thinking of spending on a tattoo this year. I still have to get the headlamp motor fixed on the Pontiac, pay that bill, and now drop some bank on updates to the van AV system.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

You don’t need an AV system in your van. Go spend the money on something more important… Sheesh!
