Only one day left…

So the rear tires on the car were bald. No worries, we’ll just replace them, and rotate the front tires to the back. But I’m not getting Z tires for the back – R will do just fine. hell, the ones I picke dout are rates to 150MPH, so it’s all good.

Turns out the mystery switch overrides a cooling fan control. In the middle position it runs normal, up it’s off, and down it’s always on. That’s where the service engine soon light came from – the switch was off, and I wasn’t cooling appropriately.

The window tint turns out to be an add-on, and so I expect I’ll just replace it with something classified as legal sometime later this winter.

And the motor is the bum part on the headlamp, which costs about 2/3 what the control module would cost me.

Without tires I should be under 375 for the whole deal, including the oil change and the front end alignment. With the tires it’ll be closer to 600. No worries.

I have to wonder – high performance tires, a switch to override a cooling sensor, and over-tinted windows. What could the prior owner have been doing with my baby?

Tomorrow night I get her back. Still have some more stuff to do to her later, but hell, it’ll be nice to have my car back….

…still gonna put a ghost-paint proper firebird on the hood. though. Ain’t a Trans Am without the hood art *grin*

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
