Saturday : Didn’t do much in the morning, then went to the train show in the early afternoon. Jake and Ray had the best time playing in the Thomas the Tank Engine Toy section of Tom’s Train Station. The N scale setup was cool, but the kids were more interested in Thomas – as usual.

Then off to my in-laws’ house to trim Jake’s hair. He wasn’t too happy about it, but hey – had to happen eventually. So he got his first haircut, I got to listen to a bad bearing in a water pump, and Ray got to play with Grandma a little.

Pizza for dinner, and then , after the kids went to bed, I watched “Lost in Translation” – WOW. What a great movie. I suppose I have to give it back to now.

I just wish I could have heard what he whispered to her at the end….I might have to buy it now.

Anyway, I got motivated this morning a bit earlier – got gas in the car and the 5-gallon jug, refueled the mower, mowed all the grass, weed-whacked, chopped up one of the down trees, and made a grocery run. All before 1pm. Then we packed up the kids and headed to the Ren Faire. Ran into Phil, which was cool, and I think i saw , but I’m not sure, and wasn’t about to just run up and say “hey are you….”

We need to go back next weekend and see the jousting – we missed it today and the kids were too restless to wait for the last show of the day. And I saw a great cloak I’d love to have…if only it had a dragon and not a phoenix on it….

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

I didn’t know you were at the Faire. If you do come back next weekend, do come up and say hi. It’d be great to meet you. I’m the tall girl in the burgundy bodice, green skirt and black hat. I really like the joust, especially the last one, they put on a good show.
