And so the waiting begins.

For those of you not familiar with NC weather, in winter we get ice at leat once a year. That typically means power outages, bad roads, and general unhappiness You would think, after three or four years in a row, they would account for this, and prepare for it.

Hahahahaha.

So here we are, wintry weather in the forecast: up to a quarter inch of ice expected. And this means that I have to make sure we have everything in order so when (not IF) the power goes out, we aren’t dead in the water. Or without water. Because of course, I’ve not been able to adjust the budget to get a generator yet.

And our electric company is a bunch of putzes. If we lose power, it’ll be at least Monday before we get it back. At least. Could be Tuesday. So I also have to be ready to abandon house. At least I can shower at work and stuff. If Ray has school, we’ll have to do something for him as well.

Bleck.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Last year, I was supposed to fly out on Dec 5th to go to Chicago. Dec 5th is when the ice storm happened.
This year, I’m supposed to fly out on Tuesday to go to Vegas. Better have blown over by then.
