Every night I call your name

Nine years ago tonight, at about this time, me and the boys decided we’d watch The Crow in PPV in the hotel since we didn’t really know what else to do in Charleston, SC.

Renee and her girls showed up just before it started. When Brandon Lee made his big entrance in the begining, every female in the room (Renee included, since she was in my arms at the time) inhaled and sighed all at once. I thing the oxygen was all used up in one moment.

To this day, I still love that movie. not just because it’s fucking beautiful, but because on the night before the night before we got married, we sat in the dark, surrounded by our friends, and watched it.

In a little over 36 hours from then we would be married.

In less than 29 hours from now, we will have been married for 9 years.

When I listen to The Cure’s “Burn” on The Crow soundtrack, I still think of that night. And I expect I always will.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
