Rainy Tuesday

Today started in the usual way – outside with the dog. I’m starting to like my early morning walkies, tho.

Work was the usual, except for the rainstorm. It was amazing. One moment, there was sun, then rain. Lots and lots of rain.

There was too much water for the city drains to handle (thanks to all the construction), and our loading doc ended up flooded. We were up on the third just watching the water rise, jump fences, and spread.

And then it stopped. And all that was left was the water damage.

From work I went to Mom & Dad’s to check on the cats, then to the grocery for more breakfast cerial and some Phish Food. Phish Food is pretty good, but I still liek Chubby Hubby better.

Now I’m on the laptop, waiting for the batter to die before I crash out for the night.

How was eveyone else’s day?

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Ended up getting a ticket on Maynard in Cary. Why in the world do they make a road 5 lanes and the put a 35mph speed limit on it? The sad thing was that I wasn’t even trying to go fast. I was just driving with traffic and I didn’t even realize I was going “56”! Doh! And now I have to go to court and may lose my license for a month.

But, on the bright side I got moved to a new cube away from all the sales people. :-)

The funny thing was, there wasn’t a drop of rain in Durham until much later… about 7pm, and then all it was was sprinkles. I looked at the WRAL map and it was this oval storm hovered right over Cary and Raleigh… and that’s all!

I’m sorry to hear that. :-( Sounds like a good lawyer is in order… you might be able to get the speed reduced due to “improper equipment” and then the penalty wouldn’t be so harsh.

If you do end up getting your license suspended, you know you can count on me to help you with transportation. Just let me know.

I spent all day in Goldsboro at an exciting workshop on how to be a better trainer (whoops, the term is now facilitator). Loads of fun, lots of jargon and being videotaped. Managed to hit the rain driving home at 7:15, but it only lasted five minutes, then everything was dry. And even more fun, I get to do it again today! I think I may have to try Chubby Hubby ice cream….
