Met Richard M. Stallman today. He was visiting Tiemann at the office. Interesting guy.

Peculiar. Reminded me of someone, but I can’t place who.

Unfortunately, he’s also very focused on one or two things, with little bleed-over to large social issues beyond free software. if it has an impact on his FSF work, he has an interest and opinion. otherwise, not, it seems.

But an interesting discussion on Free Software was had. More interesting to hear the RH people’s counters and discussions.

And I need to catch up with tomorrow, sice i *JUST* missed her today.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

Did he insist we rename to GNU/Linux again? :)

No, but he hinted very stongly at it.

He did seem a bit put out that we ahve yet to release a “Free” (as in freedom, not price) product. MSW mentioned that pine was the only thing holding us back. And RMS suggested that we hire the FSF to review the distro to be sure.

You can image the looks that got from Mathew and Michael *grin*
