And the job hunt goes. II’m at the point where I’ll sysadmin for food – and 55K + bennies – if it means a regular paycheck. Travel, pager, whatever I gotta do to pay the bills.
Because unless a miracle happened, I expect the paychecks due Tuesday aren’t, and I’ve got a mortgage due, and this shit is just *OLD*. I’d rather use my skills for someone who can pay the bills, even if it will be a downgrade in work environment.
Shit, even 24×7 rotating shifts are starting to catch my eye, if I know the company can pay me…
At least it’s Friday. I can troll monster and hotjobs and all of it all weekend if I need to.
About Kevin Sonney
Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this.
Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons.
His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits.
Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
Don’t bother with monster or hotjobs. I know NO ONE who has gotten even a bite off either. My friend Chad, who works at RedHat, says they’re hiring. Xilinx is looking for Field Application Engineers (do you know anything about optical ethernet?). Additionally I have a friend who’s an excellent recruiter, if you’d like to talk with him. He specializes in high tech jobs, and has made some awesome placements.
Oops, this is actually, but I’m at Cat’s house. Didn’t realize the login was automatic, and that I’m posing as right now.
I’ve replied to off-LJ.
The last “almost” was from hotjobs, so I’ll keep looking. And there’s guru.com, computerjobs.com, and buch of others I can look over….
