Well today I got to write some good GUI code. There are a plethora of free and nifty Java Swing Look and Feel packages out there, and I’m experimenting with one that our designers could theme. Our principle designer didn’t like the default “metal” (and I can’t say as I blame him), so maybe we can find, or theme, one of our own that he’ll like.

Upgraded kernels on some boxes, one of which bombed, so I had to drive to Durham to find out that someone (not me!) added a new partition to /etc/fstab and then forgot to format it. Considering this is the same person who learned on Monday that when it says “using old partition table until next boot” you do *NOT* mke2fs. Ah well, hours is hours, right?

Came home, grilled chicken, played with the kids, and now am about to go upstairs and maybe watch chobits 7 & 8 on VCD. Or maybe I’ll see what Renee wants to do after Jacob falls asleep….

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
