Well, it’s been an interesting day. Got up, got Damien to the vet (more on that in a bit) went to work in CH. Staff meeting was a little more somber than normal, but overall the company is reacting a lot better to the sudden…restructuring…than I thought they would.

Anyway, I talked to the vet around 3, and Damien was awake, although not all that coherent yet. Totally expected, and we’re not surprised that it’s taking a lot longer for him to shake off the anesthesia than it would a healthy cat. So I left work a little early.

And totally didn’t get to see him. Dr. Corey (this guy rocks) took Damien home with him tonight to keep an eye on him. Last reports were that Damien was trying to get up, which is a pretty good sign. But it’s not over until he’s completely healed, and home. I’ll pick him up in the morning.

Thanks for all your well wishes, gang – it’s not over yet, but it’s not as bad as it could be. Keep up the good work – ’cause until he’s completely out of the woods, he’ll need all the help he can get.

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.
