Sunday was a flurry of preparations. Bags to pack, toys to gather, a car to load…madness. But, shortly after lunch, the car was ready, and we drove to Atlantic Beach.
Sunday night we got settled into the time share, and set up house. Ray had his room and we had ours.
Monday : The beach! Sun, sand, waves…everything people like about the beach, there it was. And the pool. I’ve loved this pool, and it’s water slide, since we first came to this complex in the early 80’s.
Tuesday was more of the same, although Ray slept in a little later, which we needed. Lulled into a false sense of security, Renee and I stayed up a little late playing games and reading.
Wednesday began at 5:45am, when Ray came in to wake us up. Uh…he never gets up this early – well, not since he was itty-bitty. But, Renee’s parents were due down later that morning, so we could tough it out and survive, right?
The longest day of the year for me was Wednesday. I decided to let Renee sleep a little later than I, and I would hang out with the little man. Bubbles off the balcony at 6:30, more milk at 7:30 – Renee didn’t get up until almost 9.
By the time her folks got there at 11, I was dead on my feet. but I didn’t crash out, not during his short nap of less than an hour, not on the beach that afternoon, not until he went to sleep that night around 10.
We had give Renee’s folks the master bedroom, and were going to take the fold-out couch. We made the mistake of setting it up while Ray was awake, and so he decided he would sleep out there with Renee. leaving no room for me.
I gladly took his bed, in his room (a twin). I slept like a brick, and the only time I woke up was when Renee came in to cover me up at about 2am.
Thursday was better, and Friday not bad. Friday night, though….
