Some things I’ve bene thinking about doing :

  1. Upgrading My Red Hat 6.2 Laptop to 7.1, being brave and using the “upgrade” option of 7.1
  2. Replacing my MouseMan Marble with a TrackMan Marble FX – corded version if I can get it. I understand wireless mice suck ass for games (If nyone can refute or rebut this statement, please do!)
  3. Upgrading the BIOS on the firewall machine to see if that lest Redhat 7.1 see the LPT ports

I also need to find out why The Krull Special Edition DVD won’t play on my Apex 600A (Macrovision ON, CSS ON, Region 1)…

About Kevin Sonney

Kevin Sonney - who, contrary to popular opinion was NOT raised by wolves - grew up in central North Carolina. He fell into the technology field by accident in 1991, when he gave up the wild and crazy lifestyle of an on-air AM radio DJ to become a mundane technical support monkey. The technology industry has never really recovered from this. Kevin has worked for such names as IBM, Red Hat, webslingerZ, and Lulu Technologies (we won't mention the ones that didn't survive the experience). He currently works as a Linux Administrator for Apptio. In his spare time he rescues stray animals and plays video games with his two sons. His wife, we're sad to say, helps him get past the really hard bits. Kevin is still not very mundane, he just got better at hiding it.

    /me runs :)

Oh, and fwiw, I have done a few 6.2 -> 7.1 upgrades (unfortunately, mostly contrived cases as opposed to systems running) and they have worked without problems

    1. Nooo! Wipe clean now or do it later, after pain.
    2. Universal verdict on wireless peripherals for gaming is they’re horrid if the game is remotely time-sensitive (anything fast-twitch for example).

  3. spot says:

none of the hard core gamers will use the wireless mice… go figure.

  4. detritus says:

How about the optical mice? Do they do ok with the games?

  5. alchemist says:

Optical is suppose to kick ass. I just don’t like mice any more *grin*

  6. detritus says:

Excellent. My ball mouse is starting to suck the llamas ass.

  7. spot says:

Optical causes a significant improvement, even for the greats. The highest scorer in my UT clan switched to a optical Logitech mouse, and he went from top 100 on the stats to consistent top 10.

It adds that much accuracy. of course, the boomslang owns them all, but that requires much relearning.

I love my razer boomslang 2000.
